This is second clock from marathon. I need one to Hung on the wall of my living room. I had already for more than 3 months and I have not had any issues at all and I also have another one smaller hung on hallway and that one reads the temperature from outside and inside and that one has last me for more than 3yrs and I haven't change the battery since last year.I purchased this wall clock 2 years ago, in January of 2020. Originally I enjoyed the large characters and humidity/temperature functions, which was one of the reasons I was willing to spend 80$ on a simple clock for the kitchen. As somebody that is nearly always a little late to meetings and appointments, I have a habit of putting all of my clocks ahead by 5 minutes, including the one in my car. This has worked for me for years, as I rush to leave the house at 8:15am when it is really 8:10 for example, and end up right on time. Anyway, after ordering this wall clock, which was to be my primary time piece as I make breakfast and get ready for work, I adjusted all the settings to my preference, including disabling the automatic atomic clock adjustment feature. I set the time forward 5 minutes, punch in the date, and all good. Right? Not quite. A month later, I walk into work 5 minutes late, and checking my cellphone, I see that this is really the case. What the hell? The next day the same thing happens, and I realize it is the WALL CLOCK returning to "standard" time. I look at the display, and sure enough the flashing icon for atomic reset is happily on. I flip it over, press the buttons on the back which are clearly marked, and after holding down the right button for 3 seconds, I disable the atomic reset function. The icon disappears, I set the time forward by 5 minutes, and remount on the wall. The next day, I double check against my cellphone, and we are back on track. A few weeks later, I am again late for work by about 5 minutes. Seething in anger during my lunch break at being late for no good reason, I drive home and sure enough, the icon for automatic time adjustment is back on, indicating the clock is actively adjusting my time to the atomic clock. I pull this piece of garbage off the wall and again disable this "feature." Now I have an 80 dollar wall clock that very accurately tells the time, even if I don't want to know. After owning this piece of hardward for 2 years, it is impossible to predict when it will reset itself. This year (2021) it went for over 6 months without incident, and then yesterday I noticed the atomic clock feature had reactivated itself, prompting me to write this review. I have moved it to the computer room which is less important, and purchased a 16 dollar unremarkable wall clock for the kitchen, which has no ability to do anything except obey the orders I punched in when I first mounted it. I suppose most people will use the automatic time feature because that is something they consider a valuable feature, but to me I can't understand why it will not remain off. It bothers me that I am way past the return window, and this bug is technically not great enough to cause a recall or anything. Other than this particular flaw, the clock itself is fine, and would make a great addition to a household that is always exactly on time. For me, I'm going to stick with dumb analog devices from now on.I’ve chosen to mount this clock outside on my porch. I realize this is NOT an outdoor clock but I plan to enclose in a shadow box to help protect from the elements. I’ll try to post an update once I get to that point. So far so good! This Marathon CL030062 Slim Jumbo Atomic Digital wall clock is the perfect size for our kitchen. This self adjusting wall clock Looks great! The large digital numbers are easy to read. Definitely recommend this product.UPDATE:After 48 hours, the time has finally adjusted properly. All is great!Pic 1: After 24 hours, the time had not set properly--the time zone was not correct (it says "E" instead of "P"). In this pic you can see the dimension (clock is 9 inches high, and the time letters take up 4.5 inches of that)Pic 2: After 48 hours, with some nice hand holding from support at Marathon, the clock did set itself properly. I've taken a pic with one of the jumbo clocks we own.Pic 3: It FEELS slimmer, but is it? Here is a pic of the slim and the jumbo from the edge angle. (It's only slightly slimmer, but somehow it feels a lot slimmer than it really is)***I own five Marathon clocks. Most of them Jumbo sized. My favorite configuration is just like this slim one: time in huge letters (with seconds), temperature, date, AND humidity. it can get very dry in higher altitude, and it's nice to have a reminder to turn on the humidifier in my bedroom.overall, the best thing is marathon is a good company. they've been making nice, atomic clocks for awhile. after purchasing from amazon, they send a follow up email--and this time, i actually wrote back to let them know the atomic signal has not set the clock after 24 hours. they referred me to an actual person with a phone number--and he and i were chatting in a few minutes. he was very reassuring, and sure enough--after another day with the clock near a window, everything set properly. the ONLY time i had to return a clock was when I bought a jumbo marathon for hawaii. let it be known, that clock signals from colorado do not reach hawaii. :)as for the product, i love marathon's large number, atomic clocks. mainly, i used to hate dismounting every clock in the house twice a year when the time changes happened. so this solved that issue. the only thing that had been holding me back from buying more is the high price point of the jumbo (~$80). so when i saw the slim-jumbo at $49.95, i dove in.some nice touches are the temperatures can be toggled F or C. and the dates come in two formats ("european" where the day comes first, or "american" where the month comes first). if you for some reason want to set the clock manually--just hold down the mode button in front, and use the snooze/alarm to increase or decrease things. i think you have to also use one of the button on the back (12/24) to change the East, Mountain, Pacific designations when that is blinking.i had hopes that the very light background would make this easier to see in my dark bedroom. this still has not improved--it's the same as the old jumbo. but the tech support guy did mention they're working on a backlit one...overall, this is a minimalist/functional looking clock and at a much more reasonable price compared to the jumbo.PS, i did not receive this product free, discounted, or as part of vine. i paid full price, i needed a clock like this, and i chose independently amongst many competitor options. This clock is very nice, the picture where the people sit and you have a comparison of this clock is not propertional to how big this clock is "its smaller then that picture"However its large enough to catch your attention anywhere you place it and can read the time from far away without hassle. It keeps time very accurately even if it doesnt sync for a few days "its in a place where once or twice a week it catches a signal"Now i know where to go to adjust my wrist watch and if we have a power outage and need to rest our clocks like on the stove/mircowave etcits a cool clock and we love it!You will tooI put this up in the kitchen and I don't regret it one bit. The time numbers are 4" in height and are huge. It makes it very easy to see from a distance and easy to see for my father. He used to always complain about not being able to see the numbers on our old digital clock because they're all too small but he has never once complained about this clock. If you have elderly living with you that have vision problems, this clock would be perfect. As an added bonus, it also has temperature indoors so I have an idea what it is in a different part of the home away from the thermostat.Pros: - Large and high contrast display - Temperature, humidity and date info included - Automatic synchronization to the atomic clock standard in ColoradoCons: - Temperature sensor is very sensitive to direct sunlight, but that is to be expectedSummary: You cannot go wrong with this clock. It is always showing the precise time and it is very easily readable even on a distance.I've ordered the unit this morning. After the unit arrived, I've let it reach room temperature. Then I inserted the batteries - they are AA size, not AAA size like the description claims, and I was looking for instructions on how to adjust the time. While looking, the clock adjusted itself - it synced up with the satellite on my time zone. So I skipped reading the instructions and proceeded straight to hanging it on the wall in a conspicuous place. The whole process - ordering to wall - took 12 hours. This wall clock is exactly what I was looking for. Very large display, day, date, temp, humidity, and it even shows the seconds in case you are timing something. I had no trouble with setup. Install the included batteries, wait for it to synchronize with the time signal (actually it was mid day, I live near Winnipeg, MB and it didn’t pick it up on the first try so I pressed the synchronize button again and it updated within the next 10 minutes). Then I changed to the central time zone and Celsius instead of Fahrenheit. Presto, done! I have it hanging on a wall in my basement and it still synchronizes daily.
