Left batteries charging over night with this charger; however, the batteries also don't seem to make proper contact with thr EBL charger. It's hard to tell from the photo, but the negative side of the battery barely makes contact.Update 9/19/22The manufacturer reached out to me after I returned the item, and asked if I would be open to giving their items another shot. They sent me a new charger and set of batteries, and fortunately this set worked out a lot better than the first. I give EBL 5 stars for their customer service, and being open to feedback about their product. If you have issues with your batteries or equipment. They seem to be more than willing to help out with the issue. The charger they sent me the second time seemed to work better, and provide sufficient charge.I bought it because unlike my old 4 slot charger that does 4 AA at once, it only does two AAA at once. So what I like the most about the EBL is charging one or twelve AA or AAA at once. It works fine on different brands, Energizer, Rayovac and HiQuick. It's very easy to use and I like the bright battery icons that indicate charging status. I highly recommend the EBL model FY-1209 battery charger. If you need to quickly charge a bunch of NiMh or NiCd batteries all at one time, then this charger should be useful. I was drawn to it because of its 8-battery capacity and the fact that it is an automatic switcher for both battery types.Charging progress is monitored through the display for each individual battery. Battery discharging is also available at the push of a button.Power is routed to the unit through a provided USB cable, but the user needs to provide a charging cube (5 Volt, 2 Amp Output). My unit came with a slightly scratched display. This may be an artifact of the manufacturing/packaging process and could be prevented with a protective/removable plastic film. The internal battery charging prongs did not provide enough seating pressure to prevent sideways sliding, and I suspect that this design limitation is preventing batteries from being charged completely. The battery holds should fit snuggly as found in other battery brands (e.g., Eneloop NiHh chargers).I have only used this on AA batteries. I have not had it long but have used it on Duracell and Ikea rechargeable AA batteries. In both cases it worked well. I even used the discharge function and it brought the batteries down to 1V before automatically charging them. The batteries fit snug in this charger but they are easy to insert and remove. I returned another AA charger because it was very difficult to remove batteries to the point I was afraid that I would damage them. Overall I am happy with the purchase and I like that I can use the same charging cable that I use on my phone for this charger. Being USB based gives you a lot of flexibility.I bought this charger primarily for AAs that are used around the house in various devices. For that purpose it has turned out to be a great purchase. The testing feature has proven very useful in helping identify bad batteries that were suspect. I have tried the discharge feature and found it to work as designed but do not use it much in practice. The one issue that I have encountered with this charger is that some of my rechargeable AAA batteries are not recognized at all. But they work OK in other chargers I have. I think this might have something to do with the fact that the negative terminal for AAA‘s sits at somewhat of an angle away from the battery. As I stated earlier AAA‘s were not my primary purpose for this charger and I have two other chargers which worked fine on these batteries because the terminal comes out at 90° to the battery. Overall I am happy with my purchase and would recommend. The charger did what it advertised, but during initial use I found flaws. First, the micro USB power insert is tie, you will have to really aim straight into it and then give a firm push, The USB C is a little better, but neither is going to be the same feel like inserting into most of phones. it is easy to insert AA batteries into the charger, but getting it off the slot is another story. There is very little gap between the positive end of the battery and the charger and the edge is flash to one another, so you need to have strong finger nail to push it down and out. You can also prey it out from the side, but it is in there tie from the spring action of the negative charger contact. After the charge, I removed all the batteries and the 3rd charger slot continue to flash as if there is a battery in charge. This happens off and on. Finally, I would also complaint about the screen. It is all scratched up when it came. I believe there is a protective film on it (which scratches easily), but there is no clear tab to remove it. Over all, it is a good charger, the speed of the charge is good and I like the idea of not relying on a dedicated power adapter. I did not test the discharge function. For the price, the quality and value gets 3 stars. The batteries are great, no complaints there. The charger is okay, but it only powers via USB. This has a limitation on how many amps the charger can draw, and thus how fast it can charge batteries. EBL makes other chargers that plug in with a power cord in the same price range. Maybe for your needs, the portability of USB charging works. For mine it didn't. So do your homework and figure out what your priority is: faster charging, or portability. If it's portability, this charger will work great.Only issue I had was sometimes the batteries would sit slightly upward in the slots, but I just had to push them back down again. Did not cause any charging issues
