What Are "Low Self-Discharge" Batteries? Which means long shelf-life (they won't lose much energy while sitting around unused), vs. normal NiMH's which go dead after a few months of sitting around. There's not much reason to get the normal NiMH's, since they're not any cheaper, and their capacity is only a little higher (2700 mAh for a normal NiMH vs. 2400mAh for a similarly-priced LSD NiMH). Why doesn't our battery have the same high capacity as other brands? Advanced Premium Nimh Cells Technology: For the current nimh "Low Self-Discharge" battery technology, the higher the battery capacity, the more unstable its performance. Although our battery has no higher capacity than other batteries, ours experience is definitely not be worse than other high capacity. Don't be tempted by other-brand makers promising even higher capacities. In fact, their capacity is really not as high as described. I bought a few sets to use in a few LED flashlights and in my Flume Water meter. It's been a while and I haven't had to recharge them in the flashlights yet. Happy with the purchase!some duds initially.seller replaced and all test over marked capacity.had 3 at 0v out of 12.a nimh cell at 0v is defective.the rest along with replacements sent are all over 4200mah@1amost 5000mah marked cells are no better.they marked 4000mah.so these are truthfully rated.average ir is 24mohm.i got these for some emergency solar charged radio/lamp combo units.so low self discharge is not as important as the panel keep them full.i have a sample i charged and marked.in 6 months i will do a discharge test and report back.EDIT!after 1 month sitting most were at 1.35v which is in the normal range.but 4 had dropped to 1v or less.so these are a bad batch.Melasta support was good through all of this and issued a full refund.so the verdict is in.the c cells have problems.but Melasta handled this professionally. So far so good: after a few weeks in use, these batteries are holding up nicely. The extra capacity helps the path lights to stay on through the longer fall nights. They recharge.None of them arrived pre-charged, but they charge quickly in my Duracell charger and seem to work. They seem to work well for my solar lights in the gardenSo far so good. These worked great right out of the package in our outdoor solar lights. We've been using them for about 1 month with no issues. They’re batteries, they recharge, and work perfectly so far. A decent value for the money. These are ordinary rechargeable NIMH batteries. I used my LiitoKala Smart Charger and ran about 5-6 full discharge and recharge cycles, charging at 500mA. While most charged to about 825 to 850 mah, after 3 months all batteries lost about half of its capacity. It is a complete bogus claim that these are LSD or low self discharge rechargeables. For this reason, they are not worth the price. The same goes with the AA version which are also complete junk.Be careful. there is a very small print pamphlet that says you must charge at 0.1C.I didn't notice this and put it in a regular nimh charger.the batteries got very hot and leaked.this was on a gyrfalcon all-88So I guess my fault, but, well, all the other nimh can be charged properly.Great value and the live up to spec. 850mah is perfect for an aaa and these meet or exceed that rating in the testing I've done. Their internal resistance is very good as well, meaning they should actually do pretty well in many higher drain devices, although they are not recommended for this. Recommended!. It is not only a waste of money, but my time. A full charge is only 30% and half of the charge is gone by just leaving the batteries there. Total waste of moneyReplaced original 400mAh batteries in two of my solar lights with these and found that they only last a couple hours after sunset, compared to 6-7 hours for the original batteries. Disappointing.
