This battery replaced the same model purchased in 2005. Excellent!ExcellentI’ve had the yellow top version for years on a pontoon boat with a 60 hp outboard that never really gave them much of a charge. These batteries are the best batteries I have ever purchased for this purpose. Holds a great charge. Had a pretty elaborate stereo system which I cranked constantly and these batteries did the job. Only chose the blue tops with the light gray bottoms because they were designed more for marine grade applications having the two different size posts at the top. Recently used a solar panel with the yellow tops that I had before and never had to pull them off the boat one time to charge. I would highly recommend even though they are a little pricey I think you will be really surprised with their performance.I have 2 of these in my boat that still worm perfectly. They were bought and installed in 2009. I have since bought 2 more for RVs and 1 for another boat, and none of these lasted over 3 years. All were kept charged at all times. A former employee of Johnson controls told me that they moved manufacturing to China and cut quality, but they are still charging a premium price. This battery packs a wollup of cranking power. I replaced the OME battery in my 5.0 GT Mustang with this battery. It fits the tray but some altering with the bracket securing the battery down is needed. My car has an updated electronic ignition along with a high performance starter. Between the two, it takes just a little more oomf than the OEM battery can withstand over time. My car would start up after 5 or 6 turns before replacement. Now, it is instantanious. first turn of the key and she is humming along. A noticable difference in power.I am like a lot of people wanting to save a few bucks. Unfortunately when you buy economy batteries you often lose money in the long run. This was the case for me so this time I went with a recognized industry leader. Optima batteries are top of the line and the difference in power and run time increase with these batteries is amazing. One word of caution. These are AGM batteries and they must be charged with a charger programmed for AGM batteries. If you use the wrong charger it could damage or destroy the charger and/or the batteries. Fortunately the onboard charger in my bassboat is designed to charge all types of batteries and a simple change of a screw in sensor ensures I will have these batteries in service for a very long time. When these batteries were delivered one of them was upside down. You can mount AGM batteries at any angle because there is no possibility of losing acid from the battery. The acid is soaked into fiberglass pads inside the battery. They were fully charged when I received them and I fished 2 long days with them before charging for the first time. I would highly recommed these batteries for any marine application. For the fishermen who have not used AGM battrries a word of caution. AGM batteries provide full power until they are dead. Most batteries will provide less and less power as the charge is depleted. That is a positive thing. Just know that when your battery loses its charge you have no notice. I charge every time I go fishing so I dont see this as a problem..Much lighter than a walmart battery so far so good, we will see if it holds up with a all day fish, I will update laterUpadate 4/20/16 Used this 8 hours on a 52 lb minn kota, It was windy and I used it hard hard figured it would go down before I left the lake, I was afraid it would not start my 25 hp motor, At end of day my trolling motor has a gage to check battery reserve and it said 3/4 full is that impossible so I had another battery checker and it checked 3/4 full can that be true, can that light of a battery hold that kind of reserve, If this is true and I guess it is,this is the only battery I will ever have. Finally something that gets me thought the day and I can carry from the boat that does not weigh a ton, I will update if things change.Update 5/3/16. Ok had it out 11 hours used hard hard, showed 12.2 volts, check with meter showed 1/2 charge left, unbelievable only battery I will own know matter the cost. Will update after a year5/1/17 Ok bought a bigger boat with a older foot controlled trolling motor, the battery. We fished and used it from 9:00 am until 8:00 a 11 hour day of pretty much nonstop. After about 11 hours battery died. I still am very happy, if I had to do it over I would of bought the D31M check it out. It has 75 ah. That would have enough to run the day. Just a thought. It not that much more to buy the 31. My friend has a 31 and has had it for years maybe 6 or 7. Still works perfect.I’m a repeat customer. This is my go-to boat battery. Certainly not inexpensive but I get 5 years of use before replacing.Got a stale dated battery over 1 year old. Tried it anyway. Couldn't hold a charge. Got a replacement. Same stale dated age. Returned for refund. House battery for sailboat. Perfect fit.
