Def kills things like moths and large flys, but fruit flys not so much . But sometimes does!Great pricing and they work well. I have noticed one of them is beginning to have issues keeping batteries in place, not sure if it is a fluke or design flaw. I would purchase againI’m so impressed that this only takes two batteries. I have a much older version of this and it requires multiple D batteries that make that handle extremely heavy. This version is very lightweight and easy to maneuver. The handle is much slimmer with the smaller batteries and easier to hold. Plus it’s silent. There’s no electrostatic whirring as it charges up. As soon as the indicator light is red, it’s ready to go! Also there is more protection to this than my older swatter. It has three layers. The inner layer is the electric shock layer. Then there is a piece of plastic that holds the exterior protective grid in place. The exterior protective grid is difficult to push down and reach that inner shock layer due to the plastic component. So it’s much harder to accidentally shock yourself with this newer design. However it doesn’t obstruct the insects from reaching the shock layer at all.We find these indispensable around our home. We live next to a wooded area and have numerous wasps and yellow jackets that try to infiltrate our yard, our garage, and our attic. We find that the wasps and yellow jackets can easily be swatted and ultimately electrocuted with this. We have had better luck killing those larger in sex than we do with the flies. The flies almost since the electric field coming toward them, however the yellow jackets and wasps seem to have no idea what’s coming. And the only other way we have found to rid ourselves of these past is to use Expensive and dangerous chemicals. So this is the perfect way to deal with those nuisance in sex without the use and expense of chemicals. Plus these can actually be used when you’re outdoors eating and you don’t have to worry about spraying and contaminating any of your food.Easy to useI am disabled and mostly stuck in bed. The flies have been horrendous this summer. I played lots of tennis when I was young. Been watching the US Open - I get to "play" tennis in bed! (Go Tiafoe!)l Since this is the first day of ownership, my swing to connect with the fly is rusty. However the alternative is just lay the "racquet" down and let the flies crawl onto the electrifying surface. That snap crackle and pop is soooo satisfying! Works like a charm and so easy to get rid of the carcass. I "worry" about my bloodthirsty inclination but it is so much fun to get rid of these miserable pests. I am 100% satisfied and highly recommend.I had a bug zapper that died after maybe five years of moderate use. It was orange and shaped more like a tennis racket. Its handle was longer and the face of it bigger. This one has a smaller flat area, so it's noticeably more difficult to swat the fast, little buggers. I have to kind of trap them against a table, and the smaller face and handle of it makes that more difficult. And, every time it tumbles off a chair arm, the batteries pop out. (I had to tape the chamber shut.)It works, but I wish I'd gotten the other one.It takes a few connection with a fly to kill. One time touch for mosquitoes. Over all I’m satisfied.
