At my job we use 2 screens. Due to the 2020 health event- my employer issued some of us laptops in order to work from home. You can imagine going from 2 screens down to a laptop screen was frustrating. I got on line to see if I could rig the laptop to my 'smart TV' and got this item.I think I would have been pulling my hair out trying to just use the 1 laptop screen. The smart TV gives me the same amount of real estate viewing space for programs that the 2 at work got me. I'm not much of a computer hardware geek. I searched with the name of my computer and HMDI and then looked at the pictures to see what 'shape' I had coming out of the computer and the shape of the cord for the TV. I hovered over the pictures to see a blown up version. I guess what I"m saying is - you need to take into account what kind of equipment you have and what type of cord comes from your TV before trying this item to solve your problem.But this solved my issues and wasn't so expensive that I could't take a chance on it to save my eyesight and frustration levels. Because I disconnect my work laptop to use my personal equipment in the evening- I have been connecting and disconnecting it on a daily basis. It has always worked - first try. So I feel confident in saying it is stable and sturdy and made well.
